EDUCATION

  • B.S. 2004, University of Washington
    Biochemistry, Neurobiology

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

  • Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, 9/2003-2005
    Advisor - Dr. Cecilia Moen,
Project - Studying the role of retinoic acid metabolizing enzymes in the development of the zebrafish hindbrain. Specifically, characterizing two lines of fish that are mutant for Cyp26a1, an enzyme the degrades retinoic acid. Cloned a third, novel Cyp26 enzyme in zebrafish and several other genes that are involved in specific signaling pathways that specify hindbrain segment identity in the zebrafish embryo.
  • Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, 5/2003-6/2004
    Advisor - Dr. Meng-Chao Yao,
Project - Performing drug selection screens and PCR based mapping experiments
  • U of Washington Medical Center, 3/2001-6/2003
    Advisor - Dr. Christine Disteche,
Project - Studying the role of SMC proteins in chromosomal segregation in cultured human tissue
