The University of Wisconsin-Madison is one of the world's leading biological research institutions.
The Graduate Programs at the UW-Madison are among the finest in the nation, with this campus perennially recognized as one of the premier graduate environments in the Biological Sciences. This campus also has nationally recognized research excellence in epidemiology, disease prevention, health policy, and management.
A recent report on the total research expenditures of the top public institutions in the U.S. ranks the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the top three.
Students in the Medical Scientist Training Program may study under the direction of faculty advisers in many disciplines. Currently, there are 90 trainers from 18 different Graduate Training Programs affiliated with the MSTP. However, MSTP students are not restricted to just these trainers. The research resources of the entire Madison campus are available to our students, with any faculty member of a PhD degree granting program or department having the potential to be a mentor of a MSTP student.
